  • Accident: 170008775 - Dies After Suffering Asthma Attack

    At approximately 1:30 p.m., Employee #1 was working at her desk when she began coughing severely. She asked a coworker to call 911, and other coworkers came to her assistance as the call was made. She struggled for breath and then fainted. Coworkers lowered her to the floor and laid her on her side to allow foam and fluid to drain from around her mouth. EMTs arrived within five minutes and paramedics about two minutes later. Two unsuccessful efforts were made, first to install track equipment and then a respirator mask. On their third attempt, a tube was inserted into Employee #1's throat. She was taken by ambulance to Harborview Hospital, where she died. Coworkers were aware of Employee #1's history of asthma.

    Accident: 170100960 - Dies Of Apparent Heart Attack

    Employee #1 died in the ladies room at her workplace, apparently after suffering a heart attack. She had worked at the same work station for the past seven months at nonstrenuous tasks, but there were reports she was taking medicine for heart disease.

    Accident: 170123665 - Dies Of Cardiomyopathy

    Employee #1 was performing drywall finishing work using 3 foot tall stilts. He stumbled and struck his arm against the wall to keep from falling, sustaining a minor arm strain or sprain. Four days later Employee #1 died of cardiac arrest. Subsequent investigation revealed the cause of death was an enlarged heart due to underlying heart disease (cardiomyopathy); his death was not related to the initial arm injury.

    Accident: 170243398 - Dies Of Apparent Heart Failure

    At approximately 7:30 a.m. on July 27, 1998, Employee #1 collapsed to the ground, landing face down. Emergency technicians were immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived approximately 3 minutes later. They initiated CPR, but to no avail. Employee #1 died of heart failure resulting from advanced cardiovascular disease.

    Accident: 170574313 - Dies After Suffering From Heat Stroke

    Employee #1, a migrant field worker, had been cleaning a spent tomato field for approximately six hours when he suffered from heat stroke and died.

    Accident: 170100846 - Dies Of Cardiovascular Disease

    Employee #1, the self-employed owner of Barrett Diversified Services, was cleaning a building occupied by Foreign Auto Supply Team, Inc., a job he performed every three weeks. A approximately 2:50 p.m. the president of Foreign Auto Supply found Employee #1's body in the stairwell, three steps from the top of the stairs between the lower and main levels of the building. Apparently, he was moving cleaning supplies and equipment from the lower level to the main level because he was carrying a mop when he died. The cause of death was cardiovascular disease.
