  • Accident: 119948016 - Injured In Fall While Framing House

    At approximately 7:00 a.m. on December 1, 2000, Employee #1 was framing a residence when he fell 9 ft 6 in., sustaining a fractured right arm and lacerated liver. Employee #1 was transported by paramedics to JFK Memorial Hospital, where he was hospitalized for five days.

    Accident: 119947968 - Hand Lacerated In Circular Saw

    At approximately 12:00 noon on September 28, 2000, Employee #1, a carpenter employed by Labor Connection, was framing an addition to a private residence. He was using a Skilsaw to cut a 2-by-4 when he lacerated his left hand. Employee #1 refused transportation by paramedics and drove himself to the Big Bear Community Hospital. He was treated and subsequently transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he underwent tendon repair and was hospitalized for two days.

    Accident: 125526699 - Carpenter Injured In Fall From Balcony

    Employee #1, a carpenter, was part of a crew working on a two-story residence undergoing remodeling. He was re-installing the windows from inside the bathroom but went out to the balcony to tighten some screws because they were easier to reach from there. To gain some height, Employee #1 climbed on top of the railing and knelt on it. He apparently lost his balance and fell 14 ft to the stone yard. Employee #1 sustained serious injuries, for which he was hospitalized.

    Accident: 170205124 - Leg Injured When Shot By Nail Gun

    At approximately 9:45 a.m. on June 28, 2000, Employee #1, a carpenter for the San Francisco Housing Authority, was standing on the second rung of a ladder, using a pneumatically driven nail gun to frame a closet. While repositioning himself, he sat down on top of the ladder, with the nailer on his leg and his finger on the trigger switch. The gun went off and a nail punctured his right upper leg. Employee #1 was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he was treated and released. No accident-related violations were found in connection with this incident.

    Accident: 170205926 - Thirteen Employees Injured When Temporary Platform Collapses

    At approximately 8:45 a.m. on April 12, 2000, Employees #1 through #13, all carpenters, were raising and pivoting a 14 ft wide by 20 ft tall wall on the third floor of a building. Prior to beginning the lift, they had covered an elevator shaft with a temporary platform. As the wall was being raised, the employees walked toward and eventually onto the temporary platform. It collapsed, and they fell 9 ft to the second floor. Employees #1 through #13 sustained various injuries, including broken ribs, sprains, and bruises; Employee #10 was hospitalized.
