    Accident: 119948511 - Mechanic Injured When Split Rim Assembly Explodes.

    At approximately 9:45 a.m. on July 25, 2000, Employee #1, a heavy equipment mechanic, was working in the maintenance yard of the Bloomington Lumber Company. A split rim wheel assembly exploded during tire inflation and he sustained a fractured right arm and wrist. Employee #1 was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for 36 hours.

    Accident: 170075204 - Killed When Tire Explodes During Inflation

    Employee #1 was inflating a tire when it exploded. He suffered multiple fractures and was killed.

    Accident: 125626804 - Injured When Struck By Force Of Exploding Tire

    Employee #1 worked for a store that sold and serviced tires, wheels, brakes, and accessories. He was inflating a passenger car tire on a rim-clamp tire changer when the tire burst and he was hurled backward and to the floor. Employee #1 suffered severe bruising to his lower back and buttocks. He was treated at the emergency room at San Leandro Hospital, and released to the care of the company doctor. The employer was cited for an accident-related violation of T8CCR 3326(i)(1), for incompatibility between the tire and rim.

    Accident: 170074983 - Killed When Tire Explodes During Inflation

    Employee #1 found a flat rear truck tire in the garbage. He started to inflate it and the tire had reached 100 psi when it exploded on one side. Employee #1 was killed. (Note: Original abstract in Spanish.)

    Accident: 125891895 - Injured When Tire Explodes During Inflation

    At approximately 2:45 p.m. on October 1, 1997, Employee #1 was inflating a tire on a multi-piece rim wheel when the tire exploded. He was struck by pieces of the rim and tire and sustained serious injuries. Employee #1 was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for two months. No restraining device, safety cage, tire safety rack, or equivalent protection had been provided.

    Accident: 125892638 - Injured When Tire Explodes During Inflation

    At approximately 11:23 a.m. on August 21, 1997, Employee #1 was inflating a truck tire in prior to mounting. The wheel and tire assembly were lying on the concrete floor of the tire service bay. Employee #1 started to inflate the tire when the split rim blew off, striking him in the head and arms. He was hospitalized for three days.
